Sketchup pro 2018
In this example, I want to report upon the entire model and choose to report upon a specific nesting level. The first step in creating the new report is to choose where the info will come from.

Make sure to give your new template a name and save it (The guy who made the video below forgot this important step!). Once the data is all set in the model, it’s time to run a report! In Generate Report, I’ll create a brand new template. The Instance Names will populate the labels once the model is in LayOut. Same component, but different real world thing: each real world thing should have a unique Instance Name! The third, a right swing, was labeled D2. Two of these doors swung left and were labeled D1. In most cases, all instances of a door or window will have the same Instance Name, but in some cases (such as a door which can swing either left or right) a single component may end up having more than one Instance Name. Instance Names are also defined in the Entity Info window, and are the data object we’ll use to create an aggregated schedule for our doors and windows.

In addition to defining a Size for all components, I also want to make sure all components have an instance name. These new attributes can be used to add data to components without creating Dynamic Components. These fields allow you to add information to any component, and they can also be called upon by LayOut labels (we’ll look at those a few paragraphs on)! In addition to Size, there is a new attribute for Price, URL, Owner, and Status. Specifically, I’ll add a Size using the new Advanced Attributes (access these through the “More” button in the Entity Info window). To generate a schedule, I’ll start by adding a few attributes to the door and window components in my model. Two of these features are the Advanced Attributes and ‘Group By” aggregation in Generate Report. While these are both great features on their own, let’s take a look at how you can combine them to create door and window schedules. It costs $695, including a year’s maintenance.SketchUp Pro 2018 is here and with it a slew of awesome new features.

You can read the full list via the link at the foot of the story. Other than that, there isn’t a lot else new, aside from some “small, smart improvements” to the drawing tools, performance improvements to Outliner, and the usual list of bugfixes. In addition, SketchUp Pro 2018 also now imports and exports STL files natively, rather than requiring a separate add-on in order to do so. The Generate Report feature can also now aggregate data between components, making it possible to sum parts and quantities for schedules and cutlists, or to generate more granular pricing estimates. Support for BIM data has also been extended, with new Advanced Attributes fields for Price, Size and URL, on top of the existing fields for Owner and Status.

Section cuts through geometry can also now be filled with a user-selected colour, as shown above.

New features in SketchUp Pro 2018 include the option to assign names to section planes, making them easier to locate in SketchUp’s Outliner and to assign custom symbols that display in the modelling window. New options for handling section cuts and BIM data
#Sketchup pro 2018 update
The update also makes SketchUp Pro the only desktop edition of the software, the old free Make edition having been replaced by SketchUp Free, a new browser-based edition of SketchUp. Trimble has released SketchUp Pro 2018, the latest version of its architectural modelling software, adding new options for handling BIM data and section cuts, and adding native STL export.
